FUTURE TEXTILES - It's all about Smart Textiles
Smart Textiles are the future for the textile business, and
Denmark must be a leading country for research, development and
production of future textiles. Knowledge Centre for Smart Textiles
highlights future textiles by organizing an international textile
summit in Herning, Denmark in May 2011. The summit positions
Denmark as a country of innovation and development, as well as a
knowledge centre within smart textiles.
In May 2011 Denmark is the international centre of smart
textiles, when leading international experts meet to exchange ideas
and knowledge and develop prototypes of textile products of the
future. The key words of the summit are international networking,
dialogue, and idea generation.
During the summit, Knowledge Centre for Smart Textiles organizes
the exhibition "Pretty Smart Textiles", an international prize
competition and a large number of seminars, workshops and master
classes targeted to companies, teachers and students.

Future Textiles May 2011
The Exhibition Pretty Smart Textiles
shows how fashion, art and technology elegantly work together to
become smart textiles. Based on the Dutch exhibition Pretty Smart
Textiles, the focus is on Danish designers and companies working
with smart textiles.
International Expert Summit is the textile network
of the future bringing together leading experts in fields such as
electronics, textile construction, surface treatments,
nano-technology, sustainable textiles and special-made textile
fibers.
International Prize Competition for students from design-
and engineering schools. The purpose of the prize
competition is to find the best new ideas for textiles products of
the future, or the most innovative connection between textiles and
other product areas. The prize ceremony will take place during the
International Expert Summit.
Workshop for students and Master Class for design
teachers. In the textile industry of the future, innovation,
technology and development are key words. Through a number of
events Danish and international educators and students will get a
unique chance to learn about future textiles and the technologies
behind. The workshops will create a room where textile and apparel
companies can ask students to present their ideas for future
textile products.
Seminar for companies invites textile and apparel
professionals as well as others with an interest in the area, to
see some of the results of the work in Future Textiles' many
workshops, master classes and meetings. The seminar will present
the ideas, knowledge and visions of the participants in the expert
summit as inspiration for idea generation and future product
development in textiles companies.
Seminar for international students presents the
results and products of the international prize competition as well
as from other events for students. At the same time students are
introduced to Danish knowledge within smart textiles.
