Workshop for students

Workshop for students

May 4th

In the textile industry of the future, innovation, technology and development are the key words. To keep designers and companies updated on the newest trends and technologies, students at Danish design schools are invited to a workshop in smart textiles.

workshop billede1 A thorough introduction to electronic textiles and wearables will give the students a good understanding of the various technologies behind. Students will get a unique chance to learn about the challenges in combining textiles and electronic components. Through the most cutting edge uses of interactive applications, the workshop will discuss what electronics can offer the design field.

The participating students will explore technologies in a hands-on session where they will create a sample of an electronic textile. The samples will form the basis for a further concept development on the use of electronic textiles. In the end of the workshop, students will present their results for design teachers and invited companies.

The results from the workshop will be integrated into the exhibition Pretty Smart Textiles and the students' experiences will be communicated during the seminars for international students and companies which will take place on 17th and 18th May.

The workshop is free, and will be held at TEKO on May 4th. It will be led by Melissa Coleman and Dorith Sjardijn from Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague in Holland. Melissa Coleman is e-textiles designer and software engineer, and Dorith Sjardijn is a textile designer.
